Ms. Dharma Mowatt
Hello, welcome to my website! I am a professional, reflective educator focused on cultivating an inclusive, empowering, and interactive classroom environment for all students.
Instructional Materials
I believe that instructional materials are much more than just worksheets, but instead bridges to student independence. Whether through multi-sensory math scaffolds or student-led goal tracking, my goal is to create resources that promote a classroom environment where every learner has the tools and the confidence to take ownership of their academic journey, regardless of their starting point.
Philosophy Statement
As an educator, I believe that promoting academic achievement is impossible if a student does not feel cared for, safe, and seen in their learning environment. My mission is to create a classroom focused on the 'whole child', ensuring my classroom is a space where every student feels they belong.
As we are incredibly driven to guarantee students academic success, compassion is often accidentally pushed to the side in education. I believe creating an inspiring classroom is possible by utilizing tools such as a growth mindset, culturally responsive teaching, and data-driven instruction that allows me to focus on each student's individual needs. Being able to create an impact in a student's life is an incredible gift. My philosophy is to create an environment where students can thrive based on an understanding of how wonderful and unique each of them truly are.
Educational Pillars
High Adaptability
Versatile experience in multiple environments.
I pride myself on being an adaptable educator. My experience spans a wide range of environments, including my time student teaching in both urban and suburban districts and my current role in a highly diverse school community. This variety has taught me how to be truly culturally responsive to fit the specific needs of my students.
Academic Rigor
Highly accredited teacher training.
Dual-degree educator from The College of New Jersey, holding a B.S. in Elementary Education and a B.A. in English. Graduating cum laude in just three years, I combine a deep command of literacy with a passion for student-centered pedagogy. My collegiate education also has provided me the opportunity to obtain both my K-6 and 5-8 Language Arts licensure in New Jersey.
Inclusivity
Creating strong, personal connections with students.
I believe that students must feel understood before they can truly learn. By fostering a classroom culture built on mutual trust and student agency, I empower even my youngest learners to take ownership of their own academic and social growth. In my practice, I cultivate this environment by building student responsibility through proactive classroom management, taking the time to learn who my students are both in and outside the classroom, and constantly adapting lessons to ensure every learner receives an equal opportunity to succeed. My approach ensures that every student feels valued as an individual while they work toward their highest potential.
